Bumper was the bar of choice for countless people over the years

From funny quotes to a whole lot of "false advertising", Bumper was always known for its light box slogans.

The Hardman Street bar was the venue of choice for countless people over the years, but it was also known for its cheeky slogan board which changed every week.

The club and cocktail bar which launched in 2004 was one of the first places in Liverpool to be granted a 5am license.

Taking over the building which used to house another much loved nightclub, Plummers, Bumper lasted 12 years as a fixture on Hardman Street before finally closing its doors in 2016.

Even on the last night of opening, Bumper never lost its gift for a big statement, bowing out with a very appropriate final song choice.

A video posted on the Hardman Street venue’s official Facebook page at the time showed bar staff and customers dancing along to Pull Up to the Bumper by Grace Jones – before loud cheers and applause at the end of the song.

Shortly after closing, another venue opened in its place later the same year as The Legion of Lost Souls, billed as “where Urban Outfitters meets The Rovers Return”.

The new venture was short lived, however, and now the 14-18 Hardman Street building is now home to Beer Engine.
