Talking the business of sports

One of the best ways to enhance your Fantasy league -- and maximize quarterbacks -- is to use a Superflex format. It works the same way as a two-quarterback league, but you're not forced to play a second passer. However, not doing so would be a mistake. You want to take advantage of being able to start two quarterbacks, and you want to draft them early. It's a change of approach to one-quarterback leagues, where we advise you to wait on the position. In our final 12-team, Superflex mock draft, there were eight quarterbacks selected in the first round, including the first five overall picks. Three more quarterbacks went in Round 2, and six quarterbacks were selected in Round 3. By the end of Round 3, six managers in this league had two quarterbacks, including me. I drafted Justin Herbert at No. 2 overall, and I selected Matthew Stafford with the second pick in Round 3. I like having two of my top 15 quarterbacks in this format, and I should have an advantage over most teams being able to start two passers like Herbert and Stafford. The rest of my starting lineup is still strong with Najee Harris and James Conner at running back, Keenan Allen, Jerry Jeudy and Brandon Aiyuk at receiver, Cole Kmet at tight end and A.J. Dillon at flex. I drafted a third quarterback also with Baker Mayfield in Round 8, and the rest of my bench has plenty of upside with Alexander Mattison, Isiah Pacheco, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Tyler Boyd and Marvin Jones. I'm very happy with this roster.

Now, let's take a look at a team that took a different approach at quarterback. R.J. White, who had the No. 12 pick, started his team with Cooper Kupp, Justin Jefferson and D'Andre Swift with his first three picks. R.J. selected Tua Tagovailoa in Round 4, Ryan Tannehill in Round 6 and Davis Mills in Round 10 as his quarterbacks, and that's a shaky group. But the rest of his roster is loaded. R.J. has Swift, Travis Etienne, Elijah Mitchell, Rashaad Penny and Ken Walker at running back, and Kupp, Jefferson, Allen Lazard, Isaiah McKenzie and Jakobi Meyers at receiver, with Zach Ertz and Irv Smith at tight end. If two of his quarterbacks are above average then this team could be tough to beat if everyone stays healthy. You can see which roster construction you like best, and study all of the teams in this league, especially for your draft slot. This is a great guide for you to follow heading into Labor Day weekend.

In this league, all touchdowns are worth six points, and we award one point for every 10 yards rushing and receiving and one point for every 25 yards passing. We also award one point for every reception. We feature a starting lineup of QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, SUPERFLEX (QB/RB/WR/TE), FLEX (RB/WR/TE) K and DST with six reserves for a 17-round draft.
