Mangaluru, Aug 20: Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V instructed officials of gram panchayats and city local bodies should take suitable action with the help of police against people who display unauthorised, controversial and promoting hatred kind of banners in the district of Dakshina Kannada, including Mangaluru city.

Speaking at a meeting in the DC office on Friday, Dr Rajendra said, “Officials of local bodies should get any controversial flex vacated immediately. Police help should be sought for the same. In addition, anyone, who wants to display banners on authorised spots, should mandatorily take permission from concerned officials. Details of printer of the banner should be mentioned. If anyone is found to display banners without permission, strict action will be taken. A meeting of flex printers will be called in this connection.”

Dr Rajendra also said that DJ set and loud speakers should be used in accordance with the directions of high court and Supreme Court. Direction is given to officers at district, taluk and villager level about their duties and they should be followed without fail.
